Donna Jane Blankenship Bentley, 72, passed away on Oct. 24, 2013 in Alamogordo. She was born on June 24, 1941, in Bryson City, N.C. to James and Willabelle Penland Blankenship.
Donna proudly served her country in the United States Army and Army Reserve for 28 years. She retired with the rank of Master Sergeant on June 24, 2011.
Survivors include her husband, William J Bentley Jr., of Alamogordo; daughter, Tonya Harris and husband, Joel, of Yampa, Colo.; son Don Pursell and wife, Lisa, of Greenville, S.C.; step-children W. John Bentley and wife, Christine, Mark Bentley, Kristen Bentley Naidoo and husband, Len, and Tom Pursell; granddaughters Emily Harris, Ashley Via and Mikayla Pursell; step-grandchildren Sean and Caitlyn Bentley, Charissa and Brianna Bentley, Lauren, Audrey and Max Naidoo and Robert, Michael and Nathan Pursell; great-grandson Jacoby Via; brother J. Herschel Blankenship, of Bainbridge, Wash.; sister Clair Blankenship Catts of Erwin, Tenn.; nieces Katy Beaumont, of Savannah, Ga., Jillian Bateman, Amber Auspurger and Lacey Blankenship of Bainbridge, Wash., and Laurie Markle of Knoxville, Tenn.; and her nephew Ron Markle of Fresno, Calif.
She was preceded in death by parents and her stepbrother, Charles D Woodard.
Memorial services were held at the family home.
The Bentley family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation has taken place at PCS.
