A.A. ""Web"" Webster, Jr.

Web Webster, longtime resident and businessman of Alamogordo, NM went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2010. Web was born February 14, 1930 in Fort Worth, TX , where he loved to hunt raccoons and skunks as a small boy. He graduated with a B.S. in Business from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where he served as Resident Assistant of the men's athletic dorm. Assistant to the Dean of men and was a champion swimmer and diver for two years.

Web married Carol Hensley from Artesia, NM on April 12, 1951. The couple moved to Las Cruces, NM where Web took over the State Furniture Distributors. In 1953, he was drafted into the army, went to Officer's School and was stationed on Guam as a First Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers during the Korean War.

Web moved his family to Alamogordo in 1956, where he opened and operated the State Furniture Distributors for approximately 30 years. He was president of the Chamber of Commerce and was active in local politics. He then became a Real Estate Agent/Broker and worked for ERA Simmons until his death. He was a chapter leader of the John Birch Society in Alamogordo in the 1960s and still a proud member at his death. Since 1972 Web was active in the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International in Alamogordo, serving as president numerous years. He served as Deacon and Board Member at First Assembly of God church for several years. He continued to be very active in the Full Gospel businessmen's Fellowship and taught Sunday School at Mountain View Assembly of God over the last several years.

Web was an avid reader and lover of books. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved his work, but his greatest passion was sharing the love of Jesus with everyone he met.

Web was preceded in death by his son, Owen David Webster of Alamogordo and a sister, Elizabeth Fairey of Artesia, NM. He is survived by his wife, Carol Hensley Webster; two sons, Arthur A. Webster III of Longmont, CO and Van A. Webster of Artesia, NM; a daughter, Winnie Webster of Augsburg Germany; three grandsons, Jesse Webster and Daniel Webster, both of Tulsa, OK, Benjamin Webster of Artesia, NM and two granddaughters, Katy Webster of Artesia, NM and Diana Webster of Longmont, CO. He is also survived by his sister, Margo Dean; his brother, Charles Webster, both of Fort Worth, TX; and nephews, Webster Dean, Heagan Bayles and nieces, Giselle Miller and Holly Seethaler.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2010 at First Assembly Worship Center.

Pallbearers include Arthur A. Webster III, Vaden Gilloth, Brian Treiber, Roger Simmons, Matt Covarrubias and Jesse Webster. Honorary pallbearers will be Pastor Merle Lindsey, Judge Robert Doughty, Elwood Lowe, Al Ward, Daniel Graham, Barbie Simmons, Eli Arvizy and James Booth.

Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at First Assembly Worship Center.
