Albert "Al" Flores

1945 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Albert "Al" Flores Obituary

On Monday, Sept. 1, after a brief hard-fought battle with cancer, Al Flores passed away with his family by his side. He was born Aug. 14, 1945, in Yoakum, Texas, to Celia (Lopez) Flores and Alfred Flores, Sr.

Albert married Patricia (Chavez) Flores, whom he met in Alamogordo while serving in the United States Army at White Sands Missile Range. After his tour of duty in Viet Nam, the couple married and began their life together.
Al moved his family to Houston, Texas, in 1972, where he began work as a computer operator for Life of America and as a Systems Analyst for Schill Steel. It was in 1979 when he decided to bring his wife and two children back to New Mexico, and he began his 20 years of employment with civil service at White Sands Missile Range. Upon retirement, you could then find him working the floor and mingling with his clients at the Inn of the Mountain Gods and eventually Isleta Resort and Casino as a VIP Executive Host.
Most people, however, will remember Al, or "Mr. Al" as the "man behind the camera." Al built a phenomenal photography business that served the community for over 30 years. He started with Little League and Alamogordo High School sports in 1983, capturing timeless moments for parents and players. He then built his studio where he proudly displayed his clients on what was referred to by all as "The Wall of Fame".

Albert was preceded in death by his mother and father.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pat; a daughter Trisha and son Vince; his five grandchildren, Adrienne, Alexandria, Vinny, JonHenry and Giovani all of Alamogordo. Al is also survived by his four siblings, Alfred Flores, Jr., Rachel Osegueda, Gloria Ruiz and Nelda Padilla, along with many nieces and nephews.

Services are being conducted under the direction of Alamogordo Funeral Home. A public viewing will be held Thursday, Sept. 4, from 5-7 p.m., at the Alamogordo Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Immaculate Conception Church with the celebration of the Catholic Mass immediately following.

As a Veteran, Al's final resting place after cremation will be at the National Cemetery in Ft. Bliss, Texas.
Pallbearers will be: Jerry Telles, Rene Sanchez, Michael Urrea, Ronnie Flores, Jacob Ruiz, and April James-Guerrero. Honorary Pallbearers include Carlos Osegueda, Greg Flores, Henry Cota, Selmo Rael, James Guinn, and George Sandoval II.

A memorial scholarship fund is being established at Western Bank in Al's name to be given to a distinguished Tiger Athlete.
