Albert G. Armijo Obituary
Albert G. Armijo, 46, was taken from us on Saturday, June 20, 2009.
Albert was born April 3, 1963, in Alamogordo. If he wasn't working, you could find him hunting, camping or four wheeling in his Land Cruiser with his boys. He loved Tularosa. He carried on the family tradition of lighting yuncascos at the Tularosa Church Fiesta. If you knew him well you are sure to miss his tall tales, larger than life recollections and the hilarious nicknames he gave to everyone. Remembering the sound of his laugh will always bring a smile. He was a great father, son, brother and friend.
He is survived by his sons Jerry Armijo "Munster" and Albert Armijo "Blue," of Tularosa; a daughter, Briana LaFever, and one granddaughter, Karli LaFever, of California; his father, Arnulfo "Jerry" Armijo, and mother, Helen Flores Savoie, of Alamogordo; his sister Juli and husband, Mario Estrada, and their three children, Erica, Alexandra and Mario II and their children; his brother Jerry Terrence Armijo and his wife, Tina, and their children Taylor and Ava; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Albert graduated from Tularosa High School in 1982 and was employed as an expert mechanic and welder by Riolada Surveying LLC, where they considered him family. He also enjoyed being head of security at the family business, Jerry's Lounge, and previously managed Kwik Lube, also a family business.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Geronimo "Momo" and Emma Armijo, and maternal grandparents, Enrique and Amelia Flores.
Pallbearers will be Sam Montoya, Jimmy Salazar, Tony Chavez, Ron Chavez, Richard Alexander, Mario Estrada, Kenny Flores and Beto Mars.
Honorary pallbearers are Godfrey Chavez, Matt Garcia, Mark Alexander, Chad Lozano, Jonathon Salazar, Pat Kenney and Joe Flores.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, from 5 p.m. until the rosary.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church by his aunt, Jeni Alexander.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church with Father John Tran Nguyen, O.F.M., as celebrant. Eddie Gonzales will sing at the Mass.
A reception will follow the Mass in the parish hall.
Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
The Armijo family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
