Obituary Condolences

Albert "Al" M. Gorby, 66 of Alamogordo, returned to his Maker in Heaven and his best friend, "Rebel" on Saturday Dec. 29, 2007, at his home, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Al was born Aug. 7, 1941, in Paden City, W.V. to Asa and Lib Gorby. He graduated from Paden City High School then joined the Air Force. After completing basic training in Amarillo, Texas, he was then stationed at Holloman Air Force Base. After serving our country for four years he then became civil service with Ryan Aircraft.
While in the military, he met his Angel, Kay. They married in 1965 in Alamogordo. In the early seventies they bought the family business, Jack Wayte Construction from Kay's father and mother, Jack and Marie Wayte. Together they ventured in numerous successful businesses for over thirty years until retirement.
Al had many passions including classic cars, flying, hunting, politics and helping others but by far his strongest passion was for his horses. In his younger years he was a team member of the Paden City Wildcats football team. He was a life time member of the FFA Boosters, Sertoma, and Rotary. One of his proudest accomplishments was being a founding member of the Judge Robert L. Bradley Memorial Crime Stoppers. He was also fundamental in establishing the first FFA Chapter at Alamogordo High School.
 He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kay L. Gorby; three sons, Cory Gorby and wife Poco, and their three children Cody, Shianna and Cassidy "Bug"; Allen Gorby and wife Tracy; Shannon Babcock and wife Gina, all of Alamogordo.
Other relatives include niece Sheila Matheny; daughters Temperance and Tory; One Great nephew, 2 Great nieces; Brother in law, Paul Frum and Louise; Aunt Pearl Williams; Danny Joe Williams and family; Starla Gaiser and family, all of West Virginia.
Honorary Pallbearers include Gordon Blanchard, Jerry Browning, Phil Fifer, Harold Fuller, Pete Griffin, Harold House, John Jenkins, Bob Moore, BJ Miller, and Richard Phillips.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at First Assembly Worship Center, 1100 North Florida at with Pastor David Crispin officiating. The eulogy will be given by Tom Overstreet and Gene Galassini. Those that wish may join the family after the service at the Gorby home. 
Military Honors provided by Holloman Air Force Base Honor Guard.
