Albert M. Sainz 84, long term resident of Tularosa passed away peacefully in the loving company of his wife and children on Aug. 22, 2008 at his residence in Santa Fe. Albert was born June 6, 1924 of parents Eulogio and Francisca Sainz of Tularosa. Albert was a distinguished veteran of World War II with service in the Pacific theater. After the war Albert returned to Tularosa and began a 20 year career as an Aircraft Refueling Technician at Holloman AFB. After retiring from the Civil Service Albert began a second career with the State of New Mexico as a Maintenance Engineer for Tularosa High School and the New Mexico Commission for the Blind in Alamogordo. Albert was most at home in the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and farming. Farming was a special passion and he loved planting and growing fruits and vegetables for the family. Albert was also musically gifted and was an active member of the Spanish choir of Saint Francis De Paula church in Tularosa. Throughout his life Albert demonstrated an incredible love for his wife and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His kind and gentle nature anchored by his faith in God set the example for his family. Albert was a friend to all of the people of Tularosa and Alamogordo and many more communities where his kind and friendly approach to life touched everyone's hearts and he will be deeply missed. 
He is survived by his wife Lilia Sainz long term resident of Tularosa; daughters and family include: Bertha and Remijio Dominguez of Tucson, Ariz., Veronica and Charles LaRue of Tuscon, Ariz., Diana Sainz of Santa Fe, Ann and Richard Childress of Avondale, Ariz., Carol and Roberto Lavadie of Taos, Sylvia Sainz and James Slayden of Campbell, Calif., Janet and Greg Joselyn of Campbell, Calif.; sons and family include: David and Yvonne Sainz of Albuquerque, Benjamin and Melissa Sainz of Colorado Springs, Colo.; surviving brother and sister include: Rose and Saul Corday of Warner Robins, Ga., Antonio and Dolores Sainz of Tularosa; surviving grandchildren and family include: Eric and Amie Dominguez, Randy Dominguez, Wendy and Martin Ortega, Audrey and José Franco, Lisa and Zeferino Gomez, José and Angelina Lavadie, Anita Lavadie, Celina Lavadie, Adrian Sainz, Nathan Sainz, Matthias Sainz, and Olivia Sainz; surviving great grandchildren: Thomas Eric Dominguez , Grace Emily Dominguez, Emerson Julia Dominguez, Lilliana Lavadie, and Joaquin Gomez.
He is preceded in death by immediate family: Eulogio Sainz, Miguel Sainz, Reyes Sainz, Cecelia Sainz, Luciana Sainz and Amelia Sainz.
Pallbearers will be David Sainz, Benjamin Sainz, Mike Sainz, Adrian Sainz, Nathan Albert Sainz, José Lavadie, Roberto Lavadie and Gilbert Sainz. Alternate pallbearers will be José Franco, Martin Ortega, Greg Josselyn, Joe Padilla, Lloyd Garcia, Adolph Walters, Eric Dominguez, Randy Dominguez and Matthias Sainz.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 28, 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Internment will follow at the Sacred Heart cemetery. Reception will be held at the St. Francis de Paula parish hall immediately following the internment. 
Flowers or donations may be made to the St. Francis de Paula Church, 303 Encino St., Tularosa, NM 88352, designated for the Spanish Choir, care of Cecilia Garcia.
