1920 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Albert Nogales Flores, 91, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at his home in La Luz. He was born Dec. 5, 1920, in High Rolls to Manuel B. and Donaciana (Nogales) Flores.
Survivors include his daughters Deanne Lehner and husband, Jim, and Marie Mattison and husband, Frank; and sons Larry Flores and wife, Barbara, Jimmy Flores and wife, Kelly, Michael Flores and wife, Shirley, and Patrick Flores and wife, Emily. Albert has 11 loving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucy Walters; and his brothers Raymond, Manuel, Dave and Julian Flores.
Albert served during World War II as a maritime officer on the Atlantic, Pacific, Mediterranean and Indian Ocean theaters. He later worked for Land Air and Hughes Aircraft as a system test and aerospace engineer for 42 years.
In 1955 he moved to La Luz and was instrumental in developing the domestic water system and the volunteer fire department.
He was part of the four amigos who started the Adobe Patch and the Villa de La Luz subdivision.
Al enjoyed working on his farm in La Luz, as well as hunting, fishing and always having a pot of coffee to share with family and friends when they dropped by the house.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church, 4 La Luz Road, La Luz. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church with Father Carlos Espinoza as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Cemetery in La Luz.
The family will greet friends at 5:30 p.m. at the church before the rosary.
The Flores family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
