Albert T. Serna Obituary
Albert T. Serna, 61, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 28, 2012, in Tularosa. Albert was born April 12, 1951, in Carrizozo to Alex and Adelina (Chavez) Serna. They preceded him in death.
Albert is survived by one daughter, Krystal, and husband, Ernie Torres, from Tularosa; two sons, Lucas and wife, Anita Serna, from Damascus, Md., and Andres Serna, from Seattle; three grandchildren, Graciela and Trinidad J. Torres, and Abigail Serna. Albert also left behind his beloved dog Polamalu.
Albert graduated from Carrizozo High School then went on to serve with the U.S. Army from 1969-72. He then attended New Mexico State University. Albert retired from White Sands Missile Range, where he was a senior range controller.
Albert enjoyed gardening, watching the Steelers play, and spending time with Polamalu and his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He will be missed by his family and all of his friends.
Albert is also survived by his sisters and brothers Nick Serna, Martha Guevara and Tommy, Patricia Serna, Fred Serna and Margie and George Serna; and several beloved nephews and nieces.
The rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Santa Rita Catholic Church, 213 Birch in Carrizozo. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the church following the rosary, with Father Tony Basso as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Alex Serna, Ron Serna, James Guevara, Justin Serna, John Serna and Mario Lucero.
Honorary pallbearers are Ernie Torres, Martha Muniz, Anthony Serna, Ron Serna, Robert Guevara, Jose Mendes, Kenneth Vega Sr., Bobby John Baroz and his many friends.
The family will greet friends at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at church before the rosary.
The Serna family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
