Alejo Louis Marrujo, 79
Alejo Louis Marrujo, 79, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 17, 1931, in Tularosa to Cruz and Susan (Fields) Marrujo.
Louis loved his country by serving in the Air Force. He was active in the Tularosa American Legion and Optimist Club. He enjoyed serving his community as the Tularosa Municipal Court Judge. His favorite pastime was watching the Dallas Cowboys football team, as well as other sports. His favorite summer activity was organic gardening.
Louis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Memes; two children, Teresa Sumners and her husband, Craig, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Philip Marrujo and his wife, Dorothy, of Rio Rancho; and four grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Sumners, and Mercy and Gabriel Marrujo. He is also survived by two brothers, Gilbert and his wife, Janie, of Reno, Nev., and Ernest and his wife, Annette, of Alamogordo; sister-in-law Joanne Marrujo, of Alamogordo; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Gloria, sister Lucy and brother Johnnie.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Tularosa Community Church on Fairview Avenue in Tularosa, with Randy Borror officiating.
The Marrujo family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
