Obituary Condolences

Alexander Thomas Hibben, 96, passed away Dec. 19, 2007, at Casa Arena Blanca. Mr. Hibben was born June 23, 1911, in McKeesport, Penn., and married his late wife, Theda B. Hibben at St. Stevens Episcopal Church there in 1935.
Mr. Hibben began working in a steel mill in Pennsylvania and later worked at Chrysler Corporation in Detroit and North American in Los Angeles. He then joined Land-Air/Dynelectron in Alamogordo in 1948 as an electronics field engineer where, up to his retirement, he was supervisor for the telemetery group at Dynelectron.
Upon retiring from the space industry in 1970, he owned and operated the Hotel Cortez in Cortez, Colo., with Mrs. Hibben for 10 years before returning to Alamogordo in 1980. Mr. Hibben was active in the community as a member of the Alamogordo city planning commission, and was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Alamogordo Senior Center. He was also a Mason and a Shriner.
Mr. Hibben is survived by sons Thomas and his wife Marilynn, and Jay and his wife Faith; daughter Candy and her husband Patrick Sauer; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother David A. Hibben.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at St. John's Episcopal Church with Father Frank Wilson officiating.
Should anyone desire, donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church.
Cremation has taken place at PCS, entrusted to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
