Alzuma Marie "‘Zumie’" Lux Obituary
Alzuma "Zumie" Marie Lux, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at her daughter Marie Cooper's home in Edgecomb, Maine.
She was born July 19, 1926, in Bird City, Kan., to the late Albert Lee and Ola Elizabeth (Rogers) Roseborough.
On Dec. 1, 1946, she married Melvin Orville Lux Sr. at the home of his parents in Valentine, Neb.
Zumie moved to Alamogordo in 1951 with her husband, where they raised their four children. During her years in Alamogordo, Zumie was a member of the Grace United Methodist church, where she also taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Women's Club in the 1950s and worked for many years as a volunteer at the Alamogordo Museum of History on White Sands Boulevard.
She also spent many enjoyable hours tending her beautiful flower gardens at her and Melvin's home in Alamogordo. After Melvin died, she lived for some time in California near her daughter Beverly Parsons and eventually went to live with her daughter Marie Cooper in Maine.
She is survived by her brother Emer and Judy Roseborough, of Denver; as well as three daughters, Beverly (Bennett) Parsons, of Palm Desert, Calif., Marie Cooper of Edgecomb, and Shirley Lux, of Apex, N.C.; one son Melvin (Judy) Lux, of Fond du Lac, Wis.; seven grandchildren Adam Lux, Doug Arrington, Aaron and Eric Graves, Carlos Colmenero Jr., Jason Colmenero and Amber Colmenero; and many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and friends
Preceding her in death were her loving husband Melvin Lux; sisters May (Sarah), Ruby, Maxine, Alberta and Lucille; brother Samuel; and grandson Melvin Jay Lux.
A memorial service will be held in May in Alamogordo. Internment will be at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo, next to her husband.
