Anna DeEtte Wofford, 71, of Alamogordo, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loving family, after her battle with cancer which she fought with grace, just as she lived her life. She will be dearly missed, but her humor and laughter will live on in her family and friends. She loved to praise her Heavenly Father for all his glorious works.
She was born Jan. 22, 1937, in St. Petersburg, Fla., to Arthur J. and Thelma L. (Tubbs) Riggs. She married Dave Wofford in November 1994 in Las Vegas, Nev.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dave Wofford, of the family home. She was a wonderful mother to her children: Donald Bennett, of Alamogordo, Michael Bennett and his wife Renee, of Eugene, Ore., DeAnne Ross and her husband Steve, and Cheryl Russell and husband Sean, all of Las Vegas, Nev., Darlene Ellinger and husband George, Connie Polston and husband Jack, and Lorne Wofford and wife Kim, all of Alamogordo, and Rhonda DeLong and husband Buddy, of Artesia. She was a wonderful grandmother to Anna, Ashley, Kelsy, Lindsey, Brian, Joshua, Aaron, Danny, Katie, Jason, Drew, Rily, Vance, Wesley, Randi, Jeff, Austin and Brett. She is also survived by her two loving sisters and best friends, Patricia Berry and husband Bill, of La Luz, and Marilyn Stimpson and husband Don, of Alamogordo; and her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, Donnie, Darla, Denise, Patti Ann and Charlie.
The family would like to thank Stephan Korec, MD, his staff and special nurses Denise and Diane, Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice and her friends who were special caregivers, Ann Lasiter and Gwen Black, for all of their love and kindness.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew, Rev. Charles Christianson officiating.
A celebration of her life will follow the memorial service at her sister, Patricia Berry's house, 10 Blankenship Rd., in La Luz.
Cremation will take place locally at PCS, entrusted to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
