Antonia Sanchez Solorio Obituary

Antonia Solorio of Alamogordo, N.M., passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016. Antonia was born in La Florida del Estado Zacatecas, Mexico to Telesforo Sanchez and Teodora Banuelos.

She is survived by her husband Miguel Solorio of 50 years. Her children include four sons: Gilbert Valdez and wife Lety of Fort Worth, Texas, his daughter Krystal and Ruby Valdez, and Laura Herrera; son Ricardo Solorio and his children Sabrina, Vanessa, Britany, and Ricky; son Alfredo Solorio and his kids Alexus, Ariana, Alfredo and Ezra; son Miguel Solorio, Jr. and wife Rosa and their kids Denise and Yvonne. She had three daughters: Obdulia Alonso, her husband Juan and their kids Monica, Juan, Blanca, Karina, and Lydia; daughter Bertha and husband Carsten of Germany and her kids Gilbert, Mariah, Jordan, and Andrew; daughter Patricia Gonzales and her kids Selena and Ryan. Antonia has 24 grandkids, 24 great grandkids, and 2 great-great-grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her son Juan "Meche" Sanchez.

Antonia was an amazing and incredible woman - a loving wife and wonderful mother and grandmother. Her joy was her grandkids and her children. Her passion was her flowers. She was in constant communication with her family and friends. She was a woman of strong faith, deeply involved with Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, participating in Las Guadalupanas and the church prayer group. Antonia had a very tender and compassionate heart caring for everyone coming into her home - always making sure her family and guests were cared for lovingly. She was a woman filled with great wisdom and always giving her kids a great sense of direction and purpose. Her tender and caring heart will be missed immensely.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 3 - 5 p.m., at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home, followed by the Rosary at 5 p.m., also at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home. The Mass will be Friday, May 20, 2016, at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall.

The Solorio family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
