Retired Holloman Golf Course superintendent
Antonio A. Otero, 78, a lifelong resident of Alamogordo, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Advance Care Hospital of Southern New Mexico in Las Cruces.
Mr. Otero was born June 12, 1929, in Capitan to Manuel G. and Catarina (Aragon) Otero. He retired from the civil service as the golf course superintendent at Holloman Air Force Base.
Survivors include three sons, Manuel Otero and his wife Tina, Anthony Otero and his wife Sonia, and John Otero, all of Alamogordo; a daughter, Brenda Otero and her companion George Santa Cruz, of Alamogordo; a stepson, Lonnie Richison and his wife Linda, of San Antonio, Texas; a stepdaughter, Karan Johnson and her husband Dale, of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Josephine Freeman, of San Jose, Calif., Corrina Stogden and her husband Lloyd, of Alamogordo, and Elsie Salazar and her husband Charlie, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a brother, Lorenze Otero and his wife Delores, of Alamogordo; and a cousin, Carlos Chavez, of Albuquerque.
A vigil service will be conducted Monday at 7 p.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with the rosary to be recited by Deacon Mariano Melendrez.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with Pastor Tim Brock officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
