Antonio Moya Sainz, 83
Antonio Moya Sainz, 83, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, in Tularosa. He was born Tuesday, Nov. 29, 1927, in Tularosa to Eulogio Moya and Francisca (Moya) Sainz.
He served in the United States Navy from 1945-1946 and 1950-1951 and served on the USS Gallup. He was an active member of the Tularosa America Legion and the Alamogordo VFW. His favorite pastime was sharing time with family and friends and cooking.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eulogio and Francisca Sainz, and his siblings Luciana Dorame, Eulogio Sainz, Mike Sainz, Albert Sainz and Reyes Sainz.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores Sainz; six sons, Joseph, of Alamogordo, Robert and wife, Gloria, of Tularosa, Richard and wife, Donna, of Truth or Consequences, Gilbert and wife, Naomi, of Mescalero, James and wife, Carmen, of Alamogordo, and Andrew and wife, Laura, of Tularosa; his sister Rose Corday and husband, Saul, of Warner Robbins, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church, with Father Clifford Herle, OFM, and Father Max Hottle, OFM, as celebrants.
Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. at the church before the rosary.
The Sainz family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
