Arline Lesley Obituary
Arline Lesley passed away at her home Monday, April 26, 2010. Arline was a dearly loved mother, grandmother and sister.
She was born on June 4, 1933, to John and Lydia Nennich in Chicago. She was one of seven children and shortly after World War II her family relocated to South Haven, Mich., after losing their oldest son John in the war. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1951 and went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Wayne Lesley, on May 3, 1952. Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and afterward Wayne and Arline moved to Illinois where he worked for United Airlines and Arline was a homemaker. They had four children, Micheal, David, Sandra and Laura. After the kids were in school, Arline went to work for the Schaumburg Park District and developed their preschool program.
In 1984, Wayne was transferred to Phoenix. Arline lost her husband, Wayne, in 1987 after 35 years of marriage. She continued to reside in Arizona and moved to live in Fort Worth, Texas, and then on to Alamogordo in her later years to be near her children. Although she suffered many health issues, she rose above them and lived an independent life. She survived four of her siblings: John, Jacque, Janet and Jim.
Arline is survived by her sisters Joan Comisky, of Glenview, Ill., and Alice Vojtko, of South Haven; her brother Terry Nennich, of Minnesota; her children Micheal Lesley, of Ogden, Utah, David Lesley, of Loveland, Colo., Sandra and Allan Rickman, of Alamogordo, and Laura and Dan Harris, of Fort Worth; and her four grandchildren, Stephanie and Elle Rickman and Samantha and Jamie Harris.
Please join the family in a memorial service at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home on Friday, April 30, 2010, at 4 p.m. To sign the online register book, please visit
