Arselia "Archie" J. Herrera

1929 - 2016 Obituary Condolences

Arselia "Archie" J. Herrera went to be with the LORD on Feb. 8, 2016. Archie was born on June 5, 1929, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Jose H. and Cleofitas Jaramillo.

Archie's family relocated from Las Vegas to the surrounding areas of the Sacramento Mountains, eventually settling in Tularosa. Archie retired from the Otero County Assessor's Office on July 1, 1994. She spent 20+ years sharing her heartwarming smile, her contagious laugh and providing support to her community.

Archie was the beloved matriarch and foundation of our family who was devoted to each and every family member; near and far. She was a strong "Christian Superwoman" who raised five children while working full time. Archie's faith and generous spirit provided the family with the strength and courage needed in difficult times and ensured her family's well-being.
She was a devoted member of St Francis de Paula Catholic Church serving as an active parishioner, choir member, adoration attendant, and Guadalupana. She looked forward to and completely enjoyed participating and contributing in the annual church fiestas, she was one of the cake ladies!

Archie was preceded in death by her parents Jose H. and Cleofitas Jaramillo, former spouse Santos D. Herrera, sons Richard "Dickie" Herrera and Mark Herrera, sister Cleotilde "Cleo" Garcia, and Virginia "Budgie" Gutierrez, and brothers Filedelphio Jaramillo and Victor Jaramillo.

She is survived by her sister Mary "Memes" Marrujo, daughter Charlotte Allen (husband John), son David Herrera (wife Geri), and daughter Mary Delgado (husband Jimmy). Surviving Archie are also eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous close friends.

Attending pallbearers will be Mark Delgado, Eddie Rey Delgado, Anthony Montoya, Michael Herrera, Leon Herrera, and Evan Vigil.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shana Vigil, Victoria Vigil., Adriana Montoya, and Abbigale "Abbey" Montoya.

Services will be held at the St Francis De Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa, New Mexico on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016. Rosary will be at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of the Faithful at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Tularosa Catholic Cemetery.

The Herrera family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home, Inc. to direct the funeral services.
