Arsenia L. Zamora Obituary
Arsenia L. Zamora, 96, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, in Alamogordo. She was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Reventon to Santiago and Ignacia (Aragon) Lueras.
Arsenia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was the oldest of seven siblings, and early in life assumed the responsibility of caring for and raising them. Arsenia was also a devout Catholic and loved her church. She and her husband, Carlos Zamora, were caretakers at Saint Rita Catholic Church in Carrizozo for many years. She was a Gold Star Mother blessed with four children, 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Arsenia loved growing plants and flowers. She could often be seen setting out large barrels to catch rainwater for the plants and flowers that were kept inside her home. Arsenia will be greatly missed by her loved ones and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Zamora Sr.; her son Carlos Zamora Jr. and her grandson Daniel A. Malone.
Arsenia is survived by her daughters Grace Malone, of Las Cruces; Dolores Ortiz, of Alamogordo; and Stella Ortiz, of Albuquerque, NM.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Santa Rita Catholic Church, 213 Birch, Carrizozo.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Santa Rita Catholic Church, 213 Birch, Carrizozo, with Father Tony Basso as celebrant.
Pallbearers will be Raoul Ortiz, Ysidro Ortiz, Carlos Ortiz, David "Chuck" Ortiz, Armando Ortiz and Patrick Ortiz.
Honorary pallbearers will be Regino Hernandez, Cameron Claussen, Zachary Lilley, Jeffery Lilley, Elijah Lilley, Sean Mason and Daniel Malone.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.
The Zamora family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
