Arthur T. Hernandez Obituary
Arthur T. Hernandez, 62
Arthur T. Hernandez, 62, was called home Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, after a short but brave fight with cancer.
He was born in Alamogordo to Jose Reyes Hernandez and Sabina (Torres) Contreras. He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Veronica (Sida) Hernandez; his son Gary Hernandez; daughters Kathleen Velasco, Christina Sida and April Thomason; numerous sisters and brothers; and nieces and nephews.
He was also a wonderful grandpa to Shadee, Rhegan, Archadia, Kathea, Maliky and Mia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather Basilio G. Contreras; and sisters Beatrice Guerra and Josie Pietrazka.
Most people remember Arthur as "the man in the red truck" who was always willing to help a neighbor when they couldn't help themselves. We will truly miss his candid sense of humor and his sarcasm. He was always able to tell it like it is, but he was a big pushover when it came to his grandchildren.
No problem was too big when it came to helping his family and he worked hard his whole life to make sure we had enough. He loved anything collectible, and one of his favorite pastimes was looking through thrift and pawn stores. You were taken too soon, Dad, and we will all miss you.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Visitation will be noon Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Alamogordo Funeral Home with service starting at 2 p.m. with Pastor Willie Byrd Jr. officiating.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to First National Bank for the benefit of Arthur T. Hernandez.
