Barbara Leet Teeter Obituary
Barbara Leet Teeter died on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center after a long struggle with lung cancer.
She is preceded in death by her father, Dr. H. Halbert Leet; her mother, Dorothy Day Leet; and a nephew, James Demo Johns Jr., all of Lexington.
She is survived by her husband, Harold A. Teeter, retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, of La Luz; her three sons, William Hunt Hodge and wife, Georgia, of Houston, Warren Matthew Hodge and wife, Carolyn, of Boerne, Texas, and Robert Edward Hodge III of Houston; three grandchildren, Christopher Colin Hodge, Jeffery Allen Hodge and Alexandra Ann Hodge; six sisters, Dorothy Boone and husband, George, of Eddyville, Ky., and Lynda Lail and husband, Robert, Carol Leet, Gay Cecil and husband, Rex, Joy Leet-Mullins and husband, Brad and Mimi Leet, and one brother, Halbert and wife, Karen, all of Lexington, Ky.; and a special cousin, Vicki Lee Vance and husband, P.T., also of Lexington. She has many more cousins, nieces and nephews as well.
She was born on Nov. 23, 1933, in Lexington. After graduating from Henry Clay High School, she attended the University of Kentucky, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She later graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas with bachelor of arts and master of science degrees. For many years she taught school and was a guidance counselor in Fort Worth before retiring and moving to La Luz. She was an avid reader, gardener and accomplished painter. She was active in Republican organizations for many years until her health required that she take a more inactive role.
Barbara was a remarkable woman who was loved and cherished by all who knew her.
A memorial service in her honor will be conducted at the Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 First St., at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009.

The Teeter family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation has taken place locally at PCS.
