Barbara Linehan

Obituary Condolences

Barbara Linehan, 70, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at her home in Alamogordo. She was born Nov. 11, 1937, in Oklahoma City to Thomas Robert and Anna Theresa (Johnson) Eppler. Barbara grew up on a small farm in Midwest City, Okla., with her two sisters and brother. After high school graduation, she met and married Airman Dennis Linehan, who was stationed locally at Tinker Field Air Force Base. After being stationed at several Air Force bases around the country, Barbara and her family made their home in Alamogordo.
Barbara was a dedicated mother of five and worked tirelessly to support and provide for her children. Barbara went to work for Presto Manufacturing in the early 1970s, where she worked for 14 years. Barbara was known to be a hard working and dedicated employee and often had multiple jobs to help support her family. Barbara believed in an honest day's work for an honest day's pay and carried that work ethic through her life. In the late 1980s, Barbara moved to Arlington, Texas, to care for her mother. For the next 15 years, Barbara was employed by the Arlington School District as a custodian. Upon retirement in 2003, she returned to Alamogordo to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Eva and Rick Arone. Barbara had always considered Alamogordo her home.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anna Eppler, and daughter, Theresa Nesslien. Survivors include sons Danny Linehan and Patrick Linehan and his wife, Debbie, all of Blackwell, Okla., and David Linehan and his wife, Tracy, of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter Eva Arone and her husband, Rick, of Alamogordo; sisters Jeanette Galyen and husband, Hollis, and Gladys Eppler and brother Thomas (Bobby) Eppler, all of Arlington. Grandchildren include Bryan Linehan, Barbara and Karla Nesslien, Mary Beth and Amanda Linehan and Matthew Linehan.
Memorial services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Moon officiating.
A reception will follow at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice.
The Linehan family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
