Barry Rees Louder Obituary
Barry Rees Louder, 73, a resident of New Mexico with the exception of the last few years of his life, considered his "home" to be in Alamogordo. Barry was called to his eternal home in heaven on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, after a long illness.
He was born Sept. 17, 1938, in Alamogordo, the fourth generation of a pioneer family in Otero County.
Barry is survived by two sons, James Louder and Jeremy Louder, of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Cheryl Louder Turner and her husband Dr. Derek, of Las Cruces; grandchildren Andrew Louder, Garrett Turner, Brianne Turner and Kamrynn Louder; sister Janie Louder Mossman and her husband, Fred, of Albuquerque; numerous nieces and nephews; aunts Virginia Beacham and Maude Rathgeber, of Alamogordo; and numerous cousins and family friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Beverly and Fred Louder, of Alamogordo, whom he loved and cherished; his brother Gerald Louder; his sister Nancy Louder Gish; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close family friends.
Barry was a graduate of Alamogordo High School. He started his career with the Alamogordo Daily News working on the printing press. He worked a few years for a defense contractor at Holloman Air Force Base. In 1962, he was employed by Raytheon Co. in the purchasing department and later as a purchasing supervisor. He retired from Raytheon after 30 years of service. He went on to work for Honeywell at the Stallion Station until he was forced to retire for health reasons.
In addition to work, Barry was devoted to his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His smile was contagious and life was at its best when he was among family and friends. Barry was special to all. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Gregg Higgins officiating. Inurement will take place after the service at Monte Vista Cemetery.
