Beatrice Olive Park Obituary
Beatrice Olive Park, 82, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, in Alamogordo. She was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Quincy, Ill., to James and Julia (Easley) Harwood.
Bea, as she was known to her friends, was a person of many talents. She was a homemaker and stayed home to raise her children when they were young. When they were older, she went to work as a bookkeeper for several years at Security Bank and Trust. She enjoyed bowling and participated in local bowling leagues. She also loved to read mystery novels and enjoyed spending time with her friend in Extention Club.
She was a great animal lover and for several years bred and raised Pekingnese dogs. She moved to Williamsburg in 1983 after Joe retired. She worked for H&R Block for several years. Due to declining health they moved back to Alamogordo in 2010.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John "Joe" Park, of the family home; her daughters Candace Jo and her husband, Bill Guy Ballard, of Phoenix, and Julia Kathleen St. Onge and her fiancé, Tom Howells, of Alamogordo; grandchildren Casey, Shane, Sean, April and Brandy; and great-granddaughters Amanda, Sabrina and Brittan.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Etta May and Lillian.
Graveside services for Beatrice Olive Park will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Monte Vista Cemetery with the Rev. Chuck Moon officiating.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
The Park family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
