Belva "Sue" Barney Obituary
Belva "Sue" Barney, age 68, of Alamogordo, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces.
She was born Jan. 2, 1943, in Miami, Ariz., to Lorenzo "Whitey" and Lorene Hale. She lived in Miami until 1973 when she moved to Alamogordo. She married Bud Barney in 1976. She dedicated her life to helping others and was employed with Christ Community School and New Mexico School for the Visually Handicapped. She also owned NuWay Decorating & Upholstery, among many other occupations and talents. Her hobbies included crocheting quilts, which she donated to area orphanages. She also enjoyed camping with family. She loved to dance and sing and always had a smile for everyone.
In addition to her husband of 35 years, Ashbel "Bud" Barney, of Alamogordo, she is survived by her children Allen Cupples and wife, Talley, of Alamogordo, Larry Cupples, of Alamogordo, Jonathan Cupples and wife, Jane, of Virginia Beach, Va., Tiny Crutchfield and husband, Loyd, of Avada, Colo., Dodie Linville and husband, Tim, of Alamogordo, Bronco Woloshen and wife, Deana, of Portland, Texas, Dolly Price, of Capitan, and Rick Barney, of Lamar, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Huggins, of Globe, Ariz., Sharon Hale, of Florence, Ariz., and Ozella Hale, of Tucson, Ariz.; and brothers Vernon Hale, of Phoenix, and Paul Hale, of Globe, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lorenzo (Whitey) and Lorene Hale; brother Bobby Hale and sister Bonnie Anderson.
Memorial services for Belva Sue Barney will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 First St., Alamogordo. Graveside services will be held in Safford, Ariz., at the Safford Cemetery; further information is pending.
