Berry Myles Jr. Obituary

Berry Myles, Jr. was called home to Glory on Saturday October 17, 2015. Berry was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico on July 29, 1957.

He was raised in Alamogordo and graduated from Alamogordo Senior High in 1976. Berry was a star athlete, excelling in football and track as well as singing both acapella, and in the men's chorus. Berry was an All-State Tenor. His love of track led him to hold the New Mexico state record for the quarter mile which stands today.

Berry received four full ride scholarship offers for his achievement in track. But, instead, Berry enlisted in the Army in order to support his family at home in Alamogordo. He served a total of 18 years including tours in Vietnam, Desert Storm and Germany where he attained the rank of E-5 Sergeant.
He met his first wife Christine in Germany, was married to her for over 20 years and adopted her son as his own. They had four children together and lived in Colorado Springs, Colo. for many years.
He moved to Little Rock, Ark. in 2009. While there he reconnected with the love of his life, Paige. He and Paige had known each other since seventh grade and had sung in the school choruses together in Alamogordo schools for six years.
After reconnecting in December 2010, they were married on March 5, 2011 in Ohio. Berry and Paige moved back to Alamogordo, the city that they both loved and considered their home in November 2012. Berry loved his job at Mesa Verde Construction and his coworkers.

Berry's first love was God and Jesus Christ. Berry accepted Christ at an early age and was re-baptized in Little Rock on December 31, 2010. He and Paige attended New Hope Full Gospel Church where Berry served as a Deacon and loved singing at the top of his voice for God. Berry also loved his family and was never happier than when he was barbecuing and planning a family gathering. He truly was the Master Griller.

Berry is preceded in death by his parents Berry Bostic Myles and Gussie B Jenkins Myles.

He is survived by his wife Paige Myles; children Marvin Kraft, Malindi Stokes and husband Anthony, Keshia Myles, Zuri Myles, and Berry Myles III, grandchildren Yazmin Stokes, Desiree Stokes, Anthony Stokes, Jr, Ieshia Stokes, Kemani Stokes, Kealohalani Cooner and Damian Berechnow, siblings Velma Sulton and husband Arthur, Evonne Merrill and husband Emmett, Mary Perry, Emelda Douglas and husband William, Veronica Johnson, Annette Myles, Larry Myles and wife Loretta, Evelyn Myles, and George Myles and wife Estella and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and one great, great nephew.
