In midlife, Betty returned to school and completed a bachelor's degree in education at New Mexico State University. In fulfillment of a lifetime dream she taught for 14 years in the Tularosa Public Schools.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Davenport, of the family home; three sons, Ronald Bearden, of Pensacola, Fla., Bruce Bearden, of Linden, N.J., and Robert Davenport and his wife Bonnie, of Los Alamos; two daughters, Linda Duncan and her husband Rod, of McKinney, Texas, and Judy Emerson, of Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Beverly Peipelman and his wife Laverne, of Morgan Hill, Calif.; and a sister, Nadene Schneider, of Las Cruces.
