Betty J. Gilchrist Obituary

Sweet, caring and loving Betty J. Gilchrist passed from this earth peacefully on June 6, 2016.

She was born in Dearborn, Mic., to Farrel and Edith Jenkins on Oct. 8, 1928.
In October of 1987, Betty married Melvin R. Gilchrist. They had 28 happy years together.

Betty had a definite love for shopping and visited the local Thrift stores frequently which was evident in her extensive purse collection. She also loved to crochet and was known for making hats for anyone who admired them.

Betty is survived by her husband Melvin R. Gilchrist, daughters Helen Dryer, Kathy (Ralph) Bourdon, Jo Ann Dryer and sons Randy Gilchrist, Bob Gilchrist and Michael Sams. She is also survived by one sister Margaret Bolz. Betty had 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren whom she loved very much. She always got really excited when any of the grandchildren visited her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, husbands Roy Dryer and Charles Couch and children, Sandra, Roy, Barbara and Truman.

A Mass of the Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in La Luz, NM.
In lieu of Flowers donations can be made to the Alamogordo Senior Center, Habitat for Humanity, Kings Treasure or your favorite charitable organization.

We will all miss your sunny smile, your cheerful disposition, your quick wit and especially your hugs. We Love You Mom! We were all Blessed by your presence.
