Betty J. Marinell Obituary
Betty J. Marinell, 83, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011, in Alamogordo. She was born Tuesday, May 15, 1928, in Amarillo, Texas, to Ora Andrew and Bessie Maude (Gibson) Patterson.
Today, God is smiling and with a chuckle has new entertainment in his house watching Betty dance and manage the kissing booth for all those who need a fun-loving moment. We will miss her laugh and remember why she always made us smile, loving the way she always lived in the moment. Her last words, ones for all to remember: "I've got a free ticket," still teaching each of us. We have the same ticket available. Just ask and the Lord will provide it - no pat down at the gate and no extra charge for baggage! Betty "Boop" Marinell, thank you for all the memories and stories you left us with. The grandkids and great-grandkids will miss Silly Grandma! Thank you, God, for peacefully reclaiming a peaceful life.
She was a resident of Alamogordo since 1962. She worked at Nature's Pantry for many years and was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was active at the Alamo Senior Center where she was known as "Betty Boop." She also served on the Mayor's Council on Aging.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Marinell, in 1996, and her parents.
Betty is survived by her sons Billy R. Marinell and wife, Tammi, of Sacramento, Calif., and Joey A. Marinell, of Alamogordo; daughters Sharon D. (Shay) Rose and husband, Mike, of Albuquerque, and Pam J. Johnson and husband, Wes, of Alamogordo; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Patterson, and wife, Ina, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and very special friend Cornelius Melone.
Memorial services for Betty J. Marinell will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2011, at Grace United Methodist Church, 1206 Greenwood Lane, Alamogordo, with the Rev. Harry Riser and the Rev. Mary Taken officiating.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
The Marinell family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
