Obituary Condolences

It is with sadness we share the loss of our loved one. Bill J. Horton was born Sept. 28, 1926, in Hebron, Texas, and died Jan. 31, 2008, in Plano, Texas. He attended Plano Senior High School, graduating in the Class of 1943. Mr. Horton entered and served in the Navy during World War II. He is a graduate of the Southern Methodist University School of Banking, Dallas. He spent many years in the banking industry in New Mexico. Bill was a volunteer fireman for Plano and had an association with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department. At his death, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Plano No. 768, with 50 years-plus membership.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Annie Laurie and Homer Horton, who were pioneer settlers in Plano, Collin County. 
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lou Horton, of Carrollton, Texas, sons Jerry Horton, of Dallas, and Chuck Horton and wife Patti, of Lago Vista, Texas; daughter Sarah Horton Kirksey and husband Mark, of Plano; grandchildren Chuck Town, Gavin Horton Kirksey and Jacy Brianna Kirksey; a brother, Homer Horton Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family was from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 3 in the Parlor of Sparkman/Dickey Funeral Home. The funeral service was held in the Sparkman/Dickey Chapel at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 4, 2008. The Rev. Dr. Michael Waco served as the lead officiant. Immediately following the service Interment will take place at Plano Mutual Cemetery, 18th Street, Plano, Texas.
