Billie Morgan Obituary
Bill Morgan was received into our Lord's grace Wednesday, May 30, 2012. He was born Jan. 16, 1926, to Floy Lee (Hailey) and V.B. Morgan and was here with his family and friends for 86 years.
Within this time period, he served in the Marine Corps from 1944-46 defending the country during World War II. After getting out of the service he married Mary Lou (Watters) in 1946 and they have been together for over 65 years.
In 1956 they moved to Alamogordo, where he worked for Land-Air, Dynalectron and Dyncorp as a mechanic in the motor pool until his retirement on Aug. 8, 1988. He continued to be a part-time mechanic after his retirement and would help anyone in need, especially family and grandchildren. He also worked at Oasis Mobile Home Park helping to move and set trailers and doing maintenance repair as needed around the park. Bill and Mary also enjoyed square dancing throughout the area.
He volunteered many an hour at the Alamo Senior Center, sitting at ""the box,"" popping corn, making coffee, working puzzles, raising the flag and serving on the nutrition council. He enjoyed working in the yard, tending the plants and pecan trees. He would crack pecans by hand so that Mary had plenty to bake with or pass out to family and friends.
There was not a pallet or piece of wood that could escape his shop once it was brought in. The Lord blessed him with a creative side and he spent many an hour sawing, shaping and sanding numerous wood projects. He was able to fix or build just about anything - from broken dolls, wrecked go-karts or anything needed around the house - that anyone would ask of him or bring to him. Christmas was always a special time of year if he had ""your name,"" waiting in wonder as to what special gift he had made.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lou; three daughters, Mary Paulette Morgan, Becky May and her husband, Donnie, and Debbie Boroski and her husband, Jeff; grandchildren Paula Cox and her husband, Charles, Katie Powell and her husband, Clete, Jennie Guthrie and Jon, Billie May and his wife, Christine, Dawna Romine and her husband, Bill, Michelle Boroski and her fiance, Pary Bennett, and Charlee Boroski and his wife, Dawn; great-grandchildren Justin, Tyrell, Megan, Jacob, Bekka, Branda, Dylan, Seth, Clint, Alicia, Josiah and Kylee; his sister Nita Kennedy and her husband, Carroll; niece Floy, her son Curtis and his wife, Laura, and their children Jacob and Kayleigh; brother-in-law Bill Watters and his wife, Pat; cousins Chuck Harris and his wife, Loralie, Sandra, Dava and Cathy; nephew and niece Clint and Cheryl, along with other numerous great-nieces and nephews; special friends Poul Mark, who called him ""Pa,"" and ""Doc"" Will May and his wife, Debbie; his church family at Tularosa Community Church and many others in the community throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Benton Morgan.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Tularosa at the Tularosa Community Church located at 101 Central Ave. There will be a covered dish potluck in the fellowship hall following the service for anyone wishing to stay, reminisce and visit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alamo Senior Center or Tularosa Community Church in his name.
The Morgan family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
