Billy D. Wade, 73
Resident of Alamogordo since 1952
Billy D. Wade, 73, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Winters, Texas, to Webb and Maurine Wade. Mr. Wade's older brothers Weldon and Curtis Wade passed away in 1996 and 1997.
He was married to Nancy Mathers for 12 years and had two sons, William and Ronnie. William, who resides in Boles Acres, married and has two sons, Cody and Casey, who reside in Indio, Calif. Ronnie married and resides in Palm Desert, Calif., with his twin girls Brittany and Tiffany and his son Thomas.
Mr. Wade marred Betty Abbott in 1970. They were very happy for 32 years until Betty passed away in 2002. He and Betty owned a long haul trucking business and drove many years, accompanied by their dog Roxie. They also owned a general store and contract post office in Boles Acres. Mr. Wade retired in 1999 as a heavy equipment operator. After Betty passed away he moved back to New Mexico and had been traveling in his motor home and fishing. Sandy Ostic, his stepdaughter, and her husband, Edmund, reside in Las Cruces. Their sons Aaron, Jeff and Wesley are married, and Aaron has three children.
Mr. Wade was an Otero County commissioner and belonged to the Alamogordo Elks Lodge and Caballo Eagles Club.
Mr. Wade is survived by William, Ronnie, Sandy, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at Ruidoso-Hondo Valley Cemetery.
The Wade family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
