Billy Don Sheppard Obituary
Billy Don Shepperd, 92, of Alamogordo, went to be with his Lord surrounded by his family on Tuesday February 20, 2018. Bill was born May 15, 1925 in O'Donnell, TX to Joseph and Ima Vaughn Shepperd.

Bill served 2 years and 8 months in the U.S. Navy aboard USS Hudson DD-475 and was involved in 9 major campaigns during WWII in the Pacific. His tin tan (as he would call it) was the only tin can with accreditation for sinking an enemy submarine. Bill received an honorable discharge and also received several awards. He was a founding member of the Local Elk's Lodge. Bill and Connie enjoyed many years with the Alamogordo Travelin Elks. Bill retired from Holloman Fire Protection Branch in 1984. He had a love for sports. He played basketball for the City of Alamogordo team and enjoyed golf with his regular Wednesday morning tee time. He won numerous championship horseshoe and pool tournaments.

Survivors include his brother Harold and Gayle Shepperd of Caballo NM; sons, Ronnie and Helen Shepperd of Alva, OK, Mickey and Jessie Shepperd of Las Cruces, NM and daughter, Diane and John Wilson of Cedar Park, TX; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Connie Lee Shepperd, parents, Joseph and Ima Vaughn Shepperd; sister, Frances Smith; brothers, Kenneth "Buster" Shepperd, J.C. "Jake" Shepperd and Clinton Shepperd.

A Memorial Mass will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 1st at St. Jude. A potluck will follow after the service at the Elks Lodge.
