Obituary Condolences

Billy Ray Cawthon, born March 15, 1935, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2008. He leaves a companion, Theda Cody, a son and his wife, Randy and Patti Cawthon, of Albuquerque; a daughter and her husband, Rick and Melody Pruitt, of Houston; along with four grandchildren, Andy, Aylssa, Tyral and Jenny; and two brothers, George and Donald, of Louisiana.
Bill was born in Epps, La., and lived in Texas before becoming a longtime resident of Alamogordo where he was a district supervisor for 7-11 Stores followed by his work as a distributor for the Alamogordo Daily News. He loved visiting family in Louisiana, taking his grandkids out to breakfast, bowling, playing the slots and watching the horses run. He will be remembered for his strong character, commitment to family and friends, and how he taught us to think long before speaking and that only a few words are needed to make a point.
On Monday, March 10, 2008, at 2 p.m., a graveside service will be held at Monte Vista Cemetery next to where his wife of 40 years, Judye, is buried. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
