Bobby L. Moore

1941 - 2010 Obituary Condolences
Bobby L. Moore went home to our Lord and Father on Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, while camping with friends and family in Fun Valley, Colo.
Bob was the son of the late Leo and Edna Moore, of Portales. Bob was born in Hodges, Texas, July 19, 1941. After high school Bob joined the Navy where he worked as a machinist and was on board when they picked up the astronaut chimp HAM. After four years in the Navy, he returned to Portales where he met his beloved Ellafay Shrock. He first saw her when Fay's parents were selling their farm to his parents. It was love at first sight for Bob. They were married in June 1963 in Portales. Bob and Fay were blessed with two children, Scott and Melissa.
Bob worked as an electrician before moving to Alamogordo and starting his own business, Southwestern Electrical Contracting Inc., in 1974. He was chairman of the Committee of 50, served as president of the Chamber of Commerce in 1986, was on the board for Sivells Baptist Camp and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church since 1970. Bob loved the excitement of the electrical contracting business where he taught the trade to many, including his son Scott, grandson Derek and son-in-law Doug. He always had so much fun working with Jared, Lexi, Kyle and Cami at the "building." He enjoyed getting up early and having morning "coffee" with his buddies. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Bob enjoyed the hospitality that RV-ing brought, especially all of his friends at Fun Valley.
Bob is survived by his wife, Ellafay, of the family home; son Scott and his wife, Kimberly Moore; daughter Melissa and her husband, Doug Shoemaker; grandchildren Derek and Lexis Moore, Jared Ledbetter, and Kyle and Camryn Shoemaker, all of Alamogordo; his brothers Derry and wife, Kirby Moore, Terry Moore, of Roswell, and Buddy and wife, Sherry Moore, of Leveland, Texas; sisters Katie and husband, Vernon Monks, of Portales, and Mary, of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Edna Moore and loving sister Pat.
Memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Howell Scott officiating. A reception will follow in the Hendricks Center at Bethel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to New Mexico Baptist Children's Home or Civells Baptist Church in Bob Moore's name. Cremation has taken place.
Bob will be missed and was loved by so many.
