Brian M. Nelson, Sr. Obituary
BRIAN M. NELSON, SR. WAS BORN IN LADYSMITH, WISCONSIN ON APRIL 19, 1940 AND PASSED AWAY UNEXPECTEDLY AT SIERRA MEDICAL CENTER ON JUNE 26, 2017.

BRIAN MET AND MARRIED HIS LIFELONG PARTNER, CAROL, WHILE ATTENDING BASIC TRAINING IN WICHITA, KANSAS. ON THEIR FIRST DATE, THEY DANCED THE NIGHT AWAY. DANCING WAS ONE OF THE MANY PASSIONS THEY SHARED TOGETHER. AFTER A SHORT TEN WEEK ENGAGEMENT, BRIAN MARRIED HIS LIFE LONG PARTNER OF 59 YEARS ON JUNE 7, 1958.

SOON AFTER RETIRING FROM THE AIR FORCE IN 1979, BRIAN AND CAROL LAUNCHED THEIR REAL ESTATE CAREER OPENING THEIR OWN COMPANY IN 1981. IN 1983, THEY PURCHASED A COLDWELL BANKER FRANCHISE IN ALAMOGORDO WHERE THEY EVENTUALLY EXPANDED THE BUSINESS TO 3 ADDITIONAL LOCATIONS TO INCLUDE COLDWELL BANKER FRANCHISES IN LAS CRUCES, RUIDOSO AND SANTA FE. BRIAN RETIRED FROM HIS SUCCESSFUL OWNER OPERATED BUSINESSES IN 2007.

TRAVEL WAS ANOTHER ONE OF BRIAN'S PASSIONS THAT HE LOVED TO SHARE WITH HIS WIFE. TRAVELING ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES INCLUDING CANADA AND ALASKA IN THEIR MOTOR HOME THEY EVENTUALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH YUMA, ARIZONA. THEY RESIDED IN THAT LOCATION SIX MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR FOR THE LAST EIGHT YEARS. ONE OF BRIAN'S FAVORITE THINGS TO DO WAS TO LISTEN TO MUSIC AND BANDS SO HE COULD DANCE WITH HIS SOUL MATE. HIS FAVORITE SONG SHARED WITH CAROL WAS KNOWN TO ALL AS "PROUD MARY."

BRIAN WAS AN AVID HORSEBACK RIDER RIDING EVERYWHERE WITH HIS SON, SON-IN-LAW AND FAVORITE RIDING BUDDY, DAVID SHOEMAKER. HE RODE ALL OVER THE SACRAMENTO MOUNTAINS AND THE DESERT BASIN, THE GILA WILDERNESS AREA, NORTHERN NEW MEXICO, WYOMING AND MONTANA. HE ENJOYED HUNTING AND LOVED ALL OF HIS DOGS.

BRIAN WAS FIRST AND FOREMOST ALWAYS ABOUT FAMILY. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS EVER-LOVING WIFE, CAROL, WHO WAS ALWAYS AT HIS SIDE; HIS DAUGHTER, CHERYLL WEISENSEL AND HER HUSBAND JEFF; HIS SON, BRIAN M. NELSON, JR., "MIKE" AND WIFE THERESA; HIS FIVE GRANDCHILDREN, TRAVIS, GARRETT, CHANCELOR, COLE AND KC AND HIS FAVORITE DOG, BABY.

HE WAS LOVED BY MANY AND WILL BE MISSED BY ALL!

PER BRIAN'S REQUEST, THERE WILL BE NO SERVICES.
