Buell H. Lindley Obituary

Buell H. Lindley , 86, passed away on June 2, 2014 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born on October 25, 1927 in Potosi, Texas to Hardie and Hope (Clements) Lindley.

Buell was the loving father of five children. He was a servant of the Lord since age twelve and was a Church of Christ preacher and evangelist since the age of eighteen years old. He helped to start Churches of Christ in California in the late 1940's before moving to Alamogordo in 1949 to help with church work. He was also an accomplished musician, playing the sousaphone and was the drum major in the Eagle Band of Abilene High School. He learned to play the guitar to accompany his daughters in various fiddling contests around the country. He was also a dedicated Boy Scout leader for Troop 147 giving guidance to many young men on their path to Eagle Scout. He was an avid historian and was instrumental in getting legislation passed to create the Oliver Lee State Park. He was very supportive of his family, always coming to all the events he could. One of our favorite memories of our dad and grandaddy is him standing in the street waving goodbye as we drove away.
