Longtime resident
Burline Cannon "Lynn" Gallegos, 68, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Gallegos was born Nov. 15, 1939, in Jemez Springs to Burley and Petra (Prairie) Cannon. She married Christopher Gallegos in 1956 in Mescalero, and moved to Alamogordo. She worked for Furr's Supermarket for several years, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. As a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary No. 4041, she volunteered for many events at the Eagles Lodge, and was a former Cub Scout den mother.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Christopher Gallegos, of the family home; three sons, Christopher Gallegos III and his wife Theresa, of Las Vegas, Nev., Michael S. Gallegos, of Alamogordo, and Kenneth R. Gallegos, of Alamogordo; three daughters, Reneé Shaffer and her husband Kenneth, of Alamogordo, Denise Cuellar and her husband Phillip, of La Luz, and Patricia Rodriguez and her husband Cesar of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, Jessica Gallegos, of Las Vegas, Nev., Dallas Woodward and his wife Michelle, of Alamogordo, Brandy Woodward and her companion Eric, of Alamogordo, Breeanna Woodward, of Alamogordo, Amber Espinoza and her husband José, of La Luz, Monica Dillahunt and her husband James, of Lakeheath, England, Donny Cuellar, of Alamogordo, Amber and Cesar Rodriguez, of Tucson, Ariel Gallegos, of West Virginia, and Jonathan Gallegos, of Alamogordo; two great-grandchildren, Kamrin Woodward, of Alamogordo, and Derrick Espinoza, of La Luz; two half-brothers, Ronald Telles and his wife Pat, of Alamogordo, and Benny Telles, of Mesa, Ariz.; a half-sister, Teresa Cray, of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two granddaughters, Ashley Shaffer and Stephanie Miller; a grandson, Guadalupe Cuellar Jr.; and a brother, Burley Cannon.
A vigil service will be conducted this evening at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the rosary to be recited by Josephine Duran.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Father Bryant Hausfeld, O.F.M., as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cesar Rodriguez, Cesar Rodriguez Jr., Kenneth Shaffer, Dallas Woodward, Phillip Cuellar and Donny Rey Cuellar. Honorary pallbearers will be Burley Cannon, Ted Duran, Harlan Geronimo, Antonio Gutierrez, Ron Romero and Benny Telles.
There will be a reception at 1 p.m., following the interment, at the Parish Hall at St. Jude Mission.
Friends may call today from 3 until 5 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
