Obituary Condolences

Capt. Donald Pelton, retired fromthe Army, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, in Alamogordo, after bravely fighting cancers for more than 13 years. He was formerly from Colorado Springs, Colo., and El Paso, Texas.
He is preceded in death by parents, Fredric Arthur Pelton and Ethel Lavada Miller Pelton; and brothers and sisters Fredric Pelton, Gary Pelton, Janice Fetter, Philip Pelton and Margaret Baranak.
he is survived by wife Doris L. Pelton; children LouAnn and Rick Tamer, Cindy and Michael Daniels and Wayne and Lorna Pelton; grandchildren Michael Daniels, Terra (Tamer) and Jeff Mattson, Rachel (Daniels) and Travis Brown, Melissa Pelton and David Menchaca and Tiffani Tamer; great-grandchildren Mckenzie Avanella Radcliffe Daniels and Adonia Grace Mattson; and seven brothers and sisters.
He served our country for more than 22 years. He served unselfishly in Korea and did two tours in Vietnam. He was Soldier of the Year in 1964. He was a proud Disabled American Veteran who also worked for the civil service, and he was Commander of DAV 26 in Colorado Springs, Colo., from April to June 2003, and then again from November 2003 to April 2005.
He will be remembered for his wit and friendliness to all he met. He was a proud man but a silent tower of strength and an example to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Military graveside service will be held Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at 9 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like any contribution to go to the American Cancer Society in Honor of Capt. Donald Pelton.
Cremation has taken place at PCS entrusted to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
