Carmelo Roberto Gonzales Obituary
Carmelo Roberto Gonzales, 76, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, in Alamogordo. He was born Tuesday, July 16, 1935, in Alamogordo to Andres and Isabelle (Gandar) Gonzales.
Carmelo served four years in the United States Marine Corps. He then moved on to serve in the fire department at Holloman Air Force Base. Carmelo settled in San Jose, Calif., where he served the city as a battalion engineer for 27 years, serving at Station 16 in the San Jose Fire Department. He retired and moved back home to Alamogordo, where her served a four-year term as the fire chief of the Oro Vista Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Olga C. Gonzales; two daughters, Yvonne Jasso and husband, George, of San Jose, Calif., and Monica Casada and Rick Wolfe, of Fresno, Calif.; and his son, Carmelo Roberto Gonzales Jr. and wife, Stephanie, of Hollister, Calif.; grandchildren Helanea, C.J., Adam, Tony, Sarah, Megan, Karissa and Raymond; great-granddaughter Isenia; great-grandson Caiden; brother Antonio G. Gonzales and Len, of El Paso; and many other loving family members.
The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 First St., Alamogordo.
Funeral services for Carmelo Roberto Gonzales will follow at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Alamogordo Funeral Home with a reception following the service.
The Gonzales family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
