Carolyn Merrill Obituary
Carolyn lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011. She was born in Levelland, Texas, and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1965. She married Ronnie Merrill in 1966. Carolyn and Ronnie have owned and operated the La Luz Market since 1976.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Ronnie; daughters Sandi Nickerson and husband, Frank, of Tularosa, and Tondi Hall and husband, Jerry, of Tennessee; grandchildren Jennifer Foor and husband, Chris, of Alamogordo, Nikki Salas, of Alamogordo, Shannon Maislin and husband, Joby, of Tennessee, and Jonathon and Tessa Hall, of Tennesee; and great-grandchildren Seth and Tyler Foor, of Alamogordo.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Carolyn's name to Alamogordo Cancer Resource Center, 1212 E. Ninth St. Suite E, Alamogordo, NM 88310. Carolyn's autistic great-grandson has benefited greatly from services offered by Zia Therapy Center and we would like to also encourage donations in her name to Zia Therapy Center, 900 First St., Alamogordo, NM 88310.
A day of celebration for the life of Carolyn will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at the Nostalgia Club House at the Spruce Cabins in Cloudcroft. Family and friends may visit between noon and 5 p.m.
