Charles E. Hellier, Jr. 71, of Pikeville, Ky., died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, in Amarillo, Texas, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Chuck was born Feb. 6, 1937, in Pikeville, Ky., to Edward and Claudia Hellier. He married his beloved wife, Ann Brasfield, on Feb. 14, 1958. They had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He enjoyed a long happy career in the Air Force as a dentist, retiring with the designation of Colonel and moved to Alamogordo, where he practiced dentistry, until the desire to be closer to his children on the East Coast brought him to Florida. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann; a daughter, Leiane Hellier-Baker, of Amarillo; a son, Jeffrey B. Hellier, of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister, Lila Dole, of DeKalb, Ill.; four grandsons, Joshua and David Baker, Matthew and Ryan Hellier; one granddaughter, Callie Baker Beatty; and one great-grandson, Curtis R. Beatty. A small family service was held Thursday, March 6, 2008, with plans for a future ceremony to be held on family ground in Kentucky, in June. The family requests memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1400 Wallace Boulevard, Amarillo, TX, 79106.
