Charles M. Davis Obituary
Charles M. Davis, 75

Charles M. Davis, 75, passed away at his home in Alamogordo, Thursday, July 8, 2010, after a lengthy illness.

He was born on August 10, 1934, in Bergheim, Texas, to Rev. Charles J.
and Hazel (Neuenschwander) Davis. As a preacher's kid he early learned the ways of the Lord and the ways of the Church of the Nazarene. He learned to sing and play the piano and organ. He was a great help to his parents in their ministry, starting a pattern for lifelong involvement in church work.

Charles graduated from Bastrop (Texas) High School in 1951, and attended a year of college in Oklahoma and Texas. In his childhood he had met Inez Moore. Her parents were also ministers in the Church of the Nazarene, and the families knew each other for many years. He married Inez in 1953 at Boerne, Texas, and their daughter, Charlotte, was born in 1954. Charles and Inez moved to Alamogordo in 1956, and two more children came into their lives: Kathy, and C J.

Charles worked for various companies involved in space testing programs throughout his career. His last job was with Lockheed at the NASA site near Las Cruces, from which he retired in 1994.

He loved his Lord, his family, and the outdoors. As long as he was able, he walked for enjoyment. When that was no longer possible, he loved to go on long drives in the mountains. Charles also loved learning, and always wanted to know more. He especially loved learning more about the Bible, but was also interested in astronomy, photography, and the Internet, where he was always finding out new things. In his later years he loved going out and visiting with people. Many people will remember his smile and way of seeing fun in so many things.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Charlotte. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Inez; his daughter Kathy Pendergrass and her husband Dale and son Weston; his son C J; all of Alamogordo. He is also survived by his brother John and his wife Gloria, of Topeka, Kansas; sister-in-law Boots Lemaster and her husband Gary, of Ocala, Florida; several nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and many brothers and sisters in Christ.

All are invited to join in a celebration of his life at the New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene, 817 N. Scenic, on Monday, July 19, 2010, at 10 a.m. Rev. Stan Yocom will officiate.

He will be missed by all of us, but he is with the Lord now. Heaven is made richer by the arrival of another saint who was true and faithful to the end.

The Davis family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place locally at PCS.
