Charles Nolan Obituary
Charles E. Nolan Jr. passed away peacefully at home Friday, April 22, 2011, after a long battle with cancer and kidney disease. He was 81. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Martha Nolan; his daughters Paige Myles and Berry, from Dublin, Ohio, and Ellen Nolan, from Albuquerque; stepchildren Holly Mais and Mark, from Denver, Carolyn Lee and Steve, from Alamogordo, Candy Barber, from Alamogordo, Cindy Barber, from Pflugerville, Texas, and Robert Barber, from Albuquerque; and grandchildren Michael Barber, Casey Barber, and Nikki Lee and Austin and Vanessa Mais. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Charles was an active part of the Alamogordo and southern New Mexico community for almost 50 years. He was a well known architect of over 50 years with hundreds of projects throughout the area, the most notable being the New Mexico Museum of Space History, which he designed. He was a former member of Rotary and a current member of Sertoma. He was a past president of the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce. He was the chairman of the board of Amigos de los Ninos Children's Home for a decade. He donated his talents to design the facility. He mentored high school students because of his love of children.
A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011, in the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel.
The Nolan family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
