Charles W. Cohoe, 51, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at the family home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born Sept. 30, 1959, to Grace (Dottie) Filips, of Alamogordo, and W.F. (Ken) Cohoe, of California. He is survived by his mother, Grace; his sisters Caroline and Jim Shultz, of Santa Teresa, Brooks Cohoe, of Alamogordo, and Kathy and Cliff Crowder, of North Little Rock, Ark.; his nieces Jennifer Shultz, of Denver, and JaimeAnn Shultz, of Santa Teresa; nephew Eric Cohoe, of Alamogordo; and father Ken and wife, Jean Cohoe, of California. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Laurie Cohoe, of Alamogordo. He was predeceased by his stepfather Gerard (Gerry) Filips, and best friend and godbrother Andrew (Andy) DeAnda.
He was a printer by trade, having earned his associate's degree in printing at Edmonds Community College in Washington state and worked for many years in Seattle, El Paso and Las Cruces before opening his own business, Southwest Graphic Impressions LLC. His original artwork was noted by many and he was in high demand in the business community.
He was active in several organizations locally: the Eagles, Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce, Altrusa International Inc. and Otero County Marketing Association. He was a very active volunteer for many other organizations as well.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to Altrusa International Inc. for the following programs: New Mexico State Uniiversity-Alamogordo scholarships, Literacy Bear, the Wounded Warrior project or the Dr. Korec Cancer Foundation. An account has been set up to help offset expenses at First National Bank of Alamogordo under the name of Charles Cohoe Benefit Account.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Jude Parish at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, by the Rev. Tom Hoffman, S.J. The rosary will be recited prior to the Mass at 10:15 a.m.
