Charlotte (Gaskins) Bagwell Obituary
Charlotte Gaskins Bagwell, 86, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010, at Good Samaritan Village in Las Cruces.
She was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Chesterfield, S.C., to Carl and Bryte Rivers Gaskins. She was a homemaker and will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She met the love of her life, Edward Jay Bagwell, during the war years and they were married on Sept. 4, 1943, in Austin, Texas. She loved fishing, camping, artifact hunting, cooking and being with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Jesse; sister Madge; and her husband Edward. She is survived by her children, Tom Bagwell and his wife, Denise, of Las Cruces, Charlene Salopek and her husband, Michael, of Las Cruces, Susie Griffin and her husband, Pete, of Tularosa, Ed Bagwell and his wife, Lynn, of Las Cruces, James Bagwell and his wife, Marilyn, of Las Cruces, and Peggy Salopek and her husband, Dickie, of Las Cruces; sisters Peggy, Betty, Mary Ella, Joan and Jean; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks go to the nurses and staff at Good Samaritan for their special care of our loved one.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010, at 10 am at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces, with her nephew Father Steve Dean, of St. Francis of Assisi, officiating.
