Charlotte Lillian Rogers Obituary
Charlotte Lillian Rogers passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, June 16, 2013, in Alamogordo at the age of 95.
Charlotte was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Waco, Neb. She was the daughter of the late Atwood and Bertha Watson. Charlotte had three siblings, Evelyn and Gerald, from Nebraska, and Elisa, from Washington.
Charlotte married Ellsworth Rogers on May 6, 1937, in Oceola, Neb. She gave birth to four children: Janice in 1938, Jolene in 1939, Joe in 1941 and Catherine in 1944.
In 1963, her husband worked for a company named RCA and was transferred to the Alamogordo area. Ellsworth and Charlotte were active members and co-founders of the Christian Church on Hawaii Avenue. She finished her working career as an office manager for Dr. Terry Marquardt.
Charlotte volunteered for many years throughout the community; she especially enjoyed her volunteer work at the Alamo Senior Center and her church. Charlotte loved spending time with her family and friends.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her infant daughter Jolene Rogers in 1939; her husband, Ellsworth Roger Sr. in 1989; oldest daughter Janice K. Shiels in 2005; and grandson Bryan Cullers in 2009.
She is survived by her daughter Catherine A. Cullers, of Alamogordo; son Joe Rogers, of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren: Steve Cullers and wife, Candi, of Lander, Wyo., Kevin Cullers, of Rawlins, Wyo.; Todd Cullers and wife, Kristi, of Alamogordo; Michelle Kholer and husband, Eric, of Ellington, Conn.; and Nicki Reynolds, of Boston; 17 great-grandchildren: Megan, Tyler, Trey, and Dakota Cullers, all of Alamogordo; Chad Cullers, U.S. Army stationed in Kuwait City, Kuwait; Kody Cullers, U.S. Marine stationed in Yuma, Ariz.; Lindsay Cullers and Kristy LaVenture, of Heber City, Utah; Mark Gentile, of Roswell; Ryan Osborn, of Houston; Marissa and Chelsea Jacobs, of Woodland, Wash; Tylin and Chad Mason, of Lander; and Alexis and Kendall Kholer, of Ellington; seven great-great-grandchildren: Conner Cullers, Bentley Bonner, Kaden LaVenture, Kylie Gentile, Kyle Gentile, Tiffany Osborn and Trinity Mitchell.
Serving as pallbearers are Dave Guilmette, Fredrick Curtis, Bobby Malett, Bud Martin, Calvin Cooley, Kody Cullers, Tyler Cullers and Trey Cullers.
Honorary pallbearers are Joseph Rogers, Stephen Cullers, Kevin Cullers, Todd Cullers, Chad Cullers and Mark Gentile.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Christian Church located at 1300 Hawaii Ave., in Alamogordo with Pastor Rick Connelly officiating. Graveside services will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo.
A reception will follow the graveside services at the Christian Church on Hawaii Avenue.
The Cullers/Rogers family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
