Claude Earl Rudy Obituary

Claude Earl Rudy was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Feb.17, 1924. Always an achiever, he began his career at the age of eight – peddling newspapers.

During World War II, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving three years in the South Pacific. He later served another year of active duty during the Korean conflict. In August, 1948, Claude married Ethel Burger. He graduated from the University of Michigan in June of 1949 as an electrical engineer. He worked for contractors in the aerospace industry for ten years, moving the New Mexico in 1953. In 1962, he accepted a position with the Guidance Division at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, N.M. He retired from there in 1986.

Claude's hobbies included gun trading and collecting, and exploring the Tularosa Basin in southern New Mexico. He also had a deep interest in American history, classical music, metal working, travel and bird watching. In June of 2006, he married Mary (Gossen) McCartney.

He is survived by his wife Mary Rudy; his daughter Patricia Williams of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; his son Paul Rudy of Albuquerque, N.M.; his grandsons Chris Williams of Fort Collins, Colo. and Nicholas Williams of Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Rudy in 2003.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at the Allnutt Drake Chapel, Fort Collins, CO. Interment will take place on Tuesday, February 16th at 1:30 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice of Larimer County, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO.
