1934 - 2008 Obituary Condolences
Dave Edward Wolf, 73, passed away on Sept. 24, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. He was born on Nov. 15, 1934, to James and Helen Wolf in Springfield, Ill. Dave entered in the USAF in 1950 and served in the Korean War. While in the military he met and married his wife, Angelika "Liz" Vogt, on Dec. 29, 1961, in Germany. In 1975, after 20 years of service, Dave retired as a tech sergeant from the 49th Fighter Wing and moved his family back to Illinois. While in Illinois, Dave was a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician from 1978 to 1984. In 1985, he took a civil service job back at Holloman Air Force Base. He then retired from Lockheed-Martin in 1996. Dave spent most of his mornings for the past 12 years volunteering at the Alamogordo Senior Center, where he made numerous friends. He was also an active member of both the Moose and Elks lodges.
He is survived by his wife, Liz; six children, Katharina Knudson and husband, Bob, Barbara Ristow and husband, Karl, Elli Faull and her husband, Tim, David Wolf Jr. and wife, Lori, Bill Wolf and his wife, Deidra, and Charles Wolf and his wife, Angie; 17 seventeen grandchildren, Michael and Thomas Knudson, Kieran and Keegan Clark, Colton and Elli Faull, David Wolf III, Brian Mirabal, Michael, Shawna and Rhiannon Wolf, Eddie, Dale, Chris and Josh Wolf and Braxton and James Forbes; two great-granddaughters, Julie Wolf and Rylee Espiritu; his brother, Robert; and two sisters, Marylou and Dolores.
He is preceded in death by both his parents, his brother, Jim, and a sister, Betty.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church with Father Bruce Hausfeld, O.F.M., as celebrant.
Inurnment will follow at 2 p.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Holloman Air Force Base Steel Talons Honor Guard.
The Wolf family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
