David Gonzales Obituary

David Gonzales, 65, a resident of Fremont, California was called to his eternal rest on Feb. 3, 2016. Dave was born Sept. 21, 1950, in Alamogordo, N.M., the youngest of five children of Luis and Julia Gonzales. At the age of 19, Dave enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a seaman from 1969 to 1970 in the Vietnam War.

Dave loved music and could usually be found playing his guitar and singing wherever he was. At the age of 13, Dave joined the band Los Midnighters with his brother Bobby in Alamogordo, and was also a member of the band Chicano Breed. As a member of the band Tema, he received the Most Progressive Ranchera award at the Hispanic Music Festival in Albuquerque for the song Tú Sólo Tú. Dave also loved the ocean, and spent time with his sons teaching them how to swim and boogie board in northern and southern California.

Dave is survived by his wife, Teresa; his sons Chris (Misty), Tim (Angelica), and Louie; grandchildren Brody, Melrose, and Aislynn; his sister Virginia (Bob); and brother Johnny (Rose). He is pre-deceased by his father and mother, Luis and Julia Gonzales, and brothers Rudy Gonzales and Bobby Gonzales.

A memorial service was conducted in Fremont, Calif., on Feb. 20, 2016. Scattering ashes ceremony will take place in the spring.
