Diamantina De Los Santos Silva, 89
Diamantina De Los Santos Silva passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 29, 2011, with her loving family and friends at her bedside.
Her long life was an inspiration to all who knew her as she always exhibited dignity and grace. Diamantina and her husband, Samuel, operated several restaurants in Roswell and Alamogordo during the 1960s, and later opened the first restaurant serving Mexican food in Decatur, Ind.
Diamantina was a loving wife and mother. She was especially proud of her grandchildren's accomplishments. She loved her grandchildren very much.
Diamantina will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is with the angels now and looking over us as always. We will miss her and cherish our moments together.
She is survived by her children Hilda Carvajal, Eugene Silva and wife, Doris, Delmar Silva and wife, Irene, and Sam Silva and life partner, James Maynard; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Isabel De Los Santos. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Sam Silva; daughter Margo Sandoval; and brother and sisters Reife De Los Santos, Julia Maldonado, Guadalupe Trevino, Olivia Ysasi, Dalia Flores, Albino De Los Santos, Refugio De Los Santos and Esiquil De Los Santos.
Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel by Linda Villabisencio. A vigil will follow with Deacon Don Dickman. The family will greet friends from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home before the rosary.
The Silva family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
